So….Soloro are proud to announce that we will be at the event with a beautiful shoe boutique. Here you can buy an amazing selection of ladies brands that we offer on the site and enjoy a sweet treat as you try on as many shoes as your poor feet will allow!

A step-up too far?

Calling all vertically challenged guys….

Here’s something to tickle your fancy (or not!)

The wonderful Marc Jacobs who once (infamously) donned a skirt, has been spotted wearing a pair of Rick Owens’s high heels too! Showcasing his new look at the Louis Vuitton SS09 show, he offered an explaination:

“I don’t always wear high heels. I always get nuts when women go, ‘Oh, men don’t know what it’s like – women in heels, women in skirts, women in dresses – what it’s like to suffer for fashion.”

“Although I’ve always wanted to be taller, which is the real reason I wore them, I also thought I can show that I, too, will suffer for fashion.”

The ladies at Soloro HQ are a hung jury on this one. We can appreciate the sentiment (suffering like the ladies do) but seriously, who wants a guy who outshines your own pair of platform beauties? Pah!

So guys, if you want a great pair of formal shoes that won’t magically make you look taller but will attract the right kind of attention, a pair of Democrata will work out a real treat!

Our favourite style is Oliver which has a gorgeous silver gleam. These are bang on trend and will please the ladies more than a 6ft5 burly hunk…kind of…..

Going for gold!

Love it or hate it, there’s no getting away from X-factor fever at the minute. The Soloro HQ can’t resist an X-related gossip every Monday morning and right now, the lovely Cheryl Cole is topping the agenda with her wonderful fashion choices. Last Saturday was no exception….

Giving a classic black catsuit a swift update with accents of gold, our favourite X-factor judge looked truly radiant as she prepared to do what no other judge had done before…sing live on the show! Copy her look here with a gorgeous pair of gold Lotus peeptoes or go a little vampy with these wonderful Schutz numbers!

Or, if you’re wanting a bit of sequin madness without any kind of high heel pain (and lets face it, we’re not tooooo far off the festive season!) you could always plump for these eye-catching babies…Fabulous! Just like the Girls Aloud ladies on Saturday’s show, we can’t resist glittery goodness!

Halloween Haven

It’s fast approaching Halloween and there’s no better time to showcase AW08’s hottest trend: Gothic Romance. Aggy works it (above) and looks anything but scary…typical! Think heavy metal jewellery, deep black layers, sleek leather and witchy, giant knits. The new softer side of goth hit the YSL, Luella and Givenchy catwalks generating a masterclass in all things moody and sheer. Your new autumn/winter uniform needs to include some staples to add a real dark side to your wardrobe and there’s no better way to do this than gliding by on a pair of scarily high heels! Showstopping! Might we put forward these beauties by Schutz? Stappy, black and totally fab. No need to be scaring any small children wearing these!

Fashion fans in the Midlands will be familiar with 69 Magazine and our presence in the Autumn 09 issue..I can reveal that these were featured and adored by the fashion editor for their Gothic Romance shoot. Splendid!

Paris does London….

We’re not convinced that she has a real shortage of friends, but nevertheless, Paris Hilton has landed in London to film her new MTV reality TV show where she’s on a mission to get herself a British BFF…..

Love her or hate her, you have to admit that America’s self-confessed Princess has great taste in shoes..

Opt for her glamorous take on this season’s hottest trim- bows – with a pair of Schutz in Shakira (black really floats our boat), or get her look with a subtle take on satin covered chic here by new brand Ash that’s truly fit for a princess…

Winter warmers…

Marni and Stella McCartney (top images l-r) are wrapping things up nicely this winter…

Big cocoon coats and pretty belted pastel cardies are teamed with chunky cable knit tights or, (if you’re feeling brave!) bare legs!

We’re loving Marni’s sweet take on clashing brights, made to look uber cute with a pair of dark peeptoe delights. Why not try these for a similar look…

Black boots are always a winter staple and it’s good to invest in a decent pair. Might we recommend these to fit the bill?

Yes…we know…but they are sooooo worth it! Chie Mihara (winner of a Draper’s Footwear Award 2008) are a Spanish shoe brand that is (quite frankly) FANTASTIC. It’s the kind of brand that has you squealing with joy each time you pick up a new offering (we should know!)

Mmmmmmmm!

****INCOMING!****

While most of the ladies at Soloro HQ did a unanimous “OUCH” after seeing these images of Lady Beckham, you’ve got to hand it to her. The woman is brave! When you’re one half of the world’s most papped celeb couples, comfortable shoes just aren’t an option. Six inch killer heels combined with three high spirited boys just can’t be much fun.

However, Posh seems to think that heels are the only way forward. She said: “I just can’t concentrate in flats. I could go to the gym if I wore flats, I’d love to go to the gym, but I just can’t get my head around the footwear”.

Now there’s an excuse not to sweat buckets, if ever we heard one……

However, for you ladies who want to look glam but just can’t handle the pain, we have the perfect solution. They have just landed on the Soloro HQ doorstep…these are absolutely fab! By up-and-coming Italian label Apepazza, they’re beautiful enough to draw a fair few compliments without giving you a pained expression. Wonderful!

Officine to be seen….

Men can be boot-iful too at Soloro.co.uk…..

These lovingly crafted, buckle bearing offerings from up-and-coming brand Officine Creative will definitely put a smile on your faces…..

You can’t fault the high standard of craftmanship as each shoe is sleekly sculpted with a thick, welted sole which has been rubber-covered for extra durability and grip. This brand is a shoe force to be reckoned with! It’s not all about construction either as the leather is exceptionally smooth and oh-so amazing….

Guys….you know what to do….Soloro has spoken! ;-)

Paris Fashion week…forget le crunch!

At last!!

An antidote to our financial fashion blues….

Christian Lacroix’s shamelessly exuberant collection at Paris Fashion Week jolted fashionistas to sit up and smell the Veuve Clicquot as the “r” word hovered on everybody’s lips. A brave move during a shaky financial climate but gutsy, nontheless. Designers are now looking to inspire wealthy consumers not only to get them to part with their cash but to get them in the door in the first place! Designers really do have to go that extra mile to produce something that is really worth its weight in gold….

French couturier Christian Lacroix, who showcased his SS09 collection yesterday, has never been one to conform and give the masses what they want. However, it was clear from this collection that he was keen to present something beautiful yet ultimately, wearable.

(Image:Coutorture)

The result was a collection  of fabulous, feminine pieces that gave us enough of a reason to follow our hearts and forget about our purses. It goes without saying that Lacroix’s collection was made by his superb footwear….pretty feminine dresses in jewelled hues and flowered prints were duly toughened up with a pair of startlingly dark skyscrapers which didn’t lose their appeal as they incoporated fashion’s new love affair…bows.

Get the look with this pair of Schutz shoes in Shakira or this pair by Soloro. My personal favourites are these by Brazilian designer Luiza Barcelos, exclusively for Soloro! If you fancy going for gold, why not opt for these to outshine the rest? The best part is that none of these beauties will break the bank….

Plastic fantastic……

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

If any Soloro fans attended the Vivienne Westwood exhibition at the V&A in London or Sheffield, then you’ll know just how captivating Westwood’s designs are…unfortunately owning a piece of her fabulous collection doesn’t come cheap and orb lusting is hardly great for our purses….

Here at the office, we were chuffed when these lovely beauties rocked up on the delivery van at Soloro HQ. In collaboration with fab Brazilian brand Melissa, this classic VW toe shoe was first presented in the “Summertime” collection of AW00 and was traditionally offered in leather. However, the plastic version available on soloro.co.uk (extremely affordable too, lovely readers) really has a signature quirky edge. The trend for plastic shoes has reached fever pitch and Melissa’s offerings just keep getting better. Personally, I love the red version which would look fab with black tights and a cute short folklore-esque dress. Team with a big chunky cardigan (preferably your boyfriend’s!) and prepare for some envious stares….

The best part of plastic shoes? Surely the fact that they’ll always look shiny and new….
